Hey Everybody,
It seems like there is still a
lot of misunderstanding about the
awards fund. As all of you know,
ever since I took over as director I
have tried each year to come up with
ways to build the awards money. The
first year I tried to just use the
$1.00 we get from each person that
rides at the shows. Along with the
non-member fees I was able to have a
pretty good awards banquet. The
second year we tried getting
advertising and putting it on
banners. Several of you jumped on
board with that and we had a little
more money for awards. Last year no
one wanted to do advertising again
so we used the $1.00 per person from
the shows. Then NBHA state came
through and gave each district money
to go toward awards. Then we were
able to buy our first time District
saddle and Reserve Belt Buckles.
This year I decided to try a
"Sponsorship" of sorts. If you want
to put in a one time $15.00 fee for
a single person or $30.00 fee for a
family. At the end of the year
those who chose to donate to the
awards fund or "Sponsorship" will
reap the biggest rewards. If you
chose not to participate then you
will receive a lesser award. To me
it does not seem like a lot to
donate $15.00 for the possibility of
receiving a $600.00 saddle. None of
this money is going anywhere except
in the NBHA account.
If you had questions concerning
the "awards fund" then I wish you
would have talked to me so it could
be explained fully and completely to
you.
We are not the only district or the
only state that is doing this.
District 1 here in Indiana is
charging $25.00 per person. I
personally felt like that would have
been to much of a burden on
everyone.
There has also been questions
about shows that have ( or have not
been ) scheduled. When I was called
for the show in Hartford City, I had
that date held for another show
committee. The person that called
me said they really needed to know
then, if at all possible, and I
could not make that committment with
the date being held. The 4th of
July show at Bearcreek Farms was not
sanctioned because I had "already"
sanctioned "2" weekend shows for
there. I did not feel like I could
ask the people who live 2-3 hours
away to drive there for 3 shows this
year with gas prices what they are.
I hope that this answers any
questions that any of you have. If
not PLEASE call me!!!!!!!!!!
I am only trying to make our
district and awards banquets the
best that I can. I am truly sorry
if there has been any
misunderstanding about all of
this.
